It’s not always easy to pick just one favorite thing about a houseplant—but it’s a fun challenge. For Monstera deliciosa, my favorite feature is the cut pattern in the leaves.
Every time I look at one of these leaves, it reminds me of making snowflakes as a kid—probably back in first grade. You’d fold the paper, cut different shapes, and then open it to reveal a completely unique pattern. You never knew what it would look like until it unfolded!
The same goes for Monstera leaves. When a new leaf is about to unfurl—like this one I’m showing here—you don’t know what it will look like until it opens. It might be a plain leaf, or it might have gorgeous fenestrations (cut-outs).
It’s like watching a present unwrap itself—you never know what you’ll get! That surprise element is what makes Monstera deliciosa so exciting and special to me. It also brings back warm memories of childhood and crafting.
