Today, I’m going to share with you a secret weapon for getting your houseplants through the winter months and helping them thrive year-round. This tool is known as a seedling mat—essentially a heating pad for houseplants.
While originally designed to germinate seedlings, seedling mats can also warm the soil and roots of any plant, including your houseplants. Keeping roots warm is crucial, especially for tropical plants that are used to warm soil conditions throughout the year.
This becomes particularly important during the winter months. If you keep your home cooler—say around 60 to 65°F—many houseplants may start to suffer. Some may look sad or stressed, and the issue might be the temperature of your home.
